beautifully paced
This is a very comfortable, calm, relaxed narrative with just a hint of mystery to spice it up.
Can't wait to read page 12, etc!
It all sounds like the beginning of a long, long picaresque novel.

Homely and warm
Homely and warm as Millicent settles in, with romance developing and different characters beginning to emerge in the town. Nice work, it might be worth a spell/grammar check for a few minor typos.

New life looks bright
Karen makes it easy for her readers to slip into this story of new beginnings in a new town. Great ambience.

read this!
a well-written powerful argument for seizing the day, against the backdrop of personal loss - good strong writing

A very interesting
piece of writing. Very deep and well thought out. I love the idea of 'skeletons' that may lie in a family's closet and delving in to find out these secrets.

twisting currents of ancestry
a well-penned description of the twisting, and sometimes destructive, currents of ancestry

Exciting prelude
Your wonderful imagination has produced a promising story of fun and adventure. Would benefit well from some polishing.

Sorry to disappoint
Sorry to disappoint, Janice Connors. I'm afraid I've never been to Australia although it's always been on my bucket list. You are correct in that it is intentionally understated as in the calm before the storm. Karen MacEanruig
